Sakshi, who was born on November 19, 1998, is an Assamese native from the Lekhapani town in the Tinsukia District. She finished her pre-primary education in the town of Lekhapani.

She obtained an internship at the Taj Bengal in Kolkata following her graduation from the Institute of Hotel Management in Aurangabad in 2007, which is where the two eventually met. The sad part of their story is that despite attending the same school in Ranchi, where she was his junior, the two of them were never introduced. Later, the head of Indian cricket went to his manager and asked for Sakshi's phone number so he could call her. She thought it was a joke at first, but then she realised it was the former Indian captain himself who had been sending her texts. She turned to his texts after realising the same, and the rest, as we all know, is history. After a series of frequent conversations and dates, the pair eventually dipped their toes into a romantic relationship in march 2008.
