President Droupadi Murmu presented the national sports awards to India's top-performing athletes on Tuesday at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, where cricketer Mohammed Shami was greeted with thunderous ovation.
Usually held on August 29 to honor hockey hero Major Dhyan Chand's birth anniversary, the awards presentation was postponed because to last year's Hangzhou Asian Games, which took place from September 23 to October 8.
Prominent figures that were selected for the Arjuna award this year included para-archer Sheetal Devi, boxer Mohammad Hussamuddin (who took home a bronze in last year's world championship), and wrestler Antim Panghal (a past junior world champion and senior event bronze medalist).
